Synopsis
Lê Quang Nẫm became a leading analyst through research on Monge–Ampère equations, nonlinear partial differential equations and geometric variational problems. Raised and educated in Vietnam, he pursued doctoral study at New York University’s Courant Institute and completed his PhD in 2008. He later joined Indiana University, where he became a professor of mathematics. This documentary follows his path from student problem solving to international research and the 2024 Frontiers of Science Award.
Why This Matters
Monge–Ampère equations appear in geometry, optimal transport, fluid mechanics and materials science, yet their nonlinear structure makes them exceptionally difficult.
