Gabriel Cramer became one of eighteenth-century Geneva’s leading mathematicians through his teaching, international correspondence and editorial work for the Bernoulli family. His 1750 treatise on algebraic curves contained the formula now called Cramer’s rule and the famous puzzle known as Cramer’s paradox. This documentary follows his early doctorate, European travels and academic career, showing how a scholar working before modern linear algebra helped create methods that remain standard in mathematics, engineering.
